Crawford, K.C. (President)
Major: Mechanical Engineering Technology
Age: 25
Background:
My name is K.C. Crawford, I am the senior projects Team Leader and Owner of MOG Metalworks & Design here in Klamath Falls, OR.
I am one of the lucky ones who discovered my passion in life at a young age. I am a maker, and nothing brings me more happiness than creating a useful gizmo, gadget, or machine.
Having known from a young age, my passion for creating has evolved from Legos and models, to CNC Machines and off-road race cars. My education is a reflection of my passion for making and creating, specifically in metal fabrication and CNC Machining.
In 2012 I Graduated from Wyotech’s collision repair and refinishing program with a specialty in chassis fabrication and suspension design from their West Sacramento, CA campus. Currently, I am an undergraduate working towards my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology at Oregon Tech (OIT). This degree blends seamlessly with my previously acquired trade school experience.
In order to continue my passion for making while attending school at Oregon Tech (OIT), I started a metal fabrication shop specializing in CNC Plasma cutting and metal fabrication called MOG Metalworks & Design where I currently work while maintaining full time status at OIT.
Over the last few months MOG Metalworks & Design has switched gears from a fabrication job shop to open its door for our senior project in engineering at Oregon Tech, designing and building a 4800 Class Ultra-4 off-road racecar!
Responsibilities:
Project Owner
Lead fabricator
Purchasing agent
(Facilitator) Owner MOG Metalworks
George, Colton
Major: Manufacturing Engineering
Age: 22
Background:
My name is Colton George, I’m from La Pine Oregon and I am a senior at OIT. I also work at JELD-WEN in the R&D department where I’m gaining skills that compliment what I am learning in school, including: project management, 3D modeling, designing manufacturable products, building and testing them.
I grew up riding and racing dirt bikes. I also enjoy rock crawling and have a Jeep Wrangler that is built for it; I have taken it on the Rubicon Trail as well as other adventures. After my first time going to King of the Hammers during my sophomore year, I was hooked and I’m excited to build this buggy.
Responsibilities:
3D modeling & chassis design
Project Management
Assisting James on Chassis table
Fabrication & Assembly
Hancock, Cullen
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Age: 22
Background:
My name is Cullen Hancock, I grew up in the small town of LaGrande, OR. From a young age I found myself intrigued by the complexities of machines. My curiosity eventually developed into passion, and a desire to understand. As a result, I now have a background in engine building and mechanical experience in the automotive field.
I am currently in my senior year in the mechanical engineering program at OIT. Over the last two summers I was fortunate enough to work at two different companies as an intern. During these internships I obtained valuable practical knowledge in the development, design, and manufacturing of mechanical systems.
I look forward to applying as much knowledge, passion, and hard work as possible during this project.
Responsibilities:
Powertrain System Design
Engine & Transmission Component Selection
Fuel Management System
Engine & Trans Cooling Systems
Engine & Transmission Tuning
CFD ( Cooling System)
Chassis Modeling
Mons, Jeremy
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Age: 30
Background:
My name is Jeremy Mons. I am a senior at Oregon Institute of Technology. I was born in Medford, Oregon, but I was raised in the small town of Trail, Oregon. Coming from a small town I was always outside and learning how to keep myself busy. My passion in my younger years were racing motocross and hunting.
As a kid I always had to take my toys apart and figure out how they worked, that carried over to my motorcycles and firearms as I grew older. I’ve always had the desire to figure things out and understand how they functioned or operated.
While I was in high school, I work two summers for the Army corp. of Engineers. While I was working there I was fascinated with the complexity of the project the engineers were involved in. My experience there was a large influence on my decision to pursue a career in engineering.
I am excited to be a part of the Ultra-4 team. Everyone on the team shares a passion for off-roading. I hope to contribute my knowledge on suspension setup that I’ve acquired from my past racing experience. I also have some experience fabricating from previous employers. I am looking forward to getting a better understanding of chassis design and fabrication.
Responsibilities:
General machining
Suspension design and setup
Fabrication of chassis

Peters, Jason
Major: Manufacturing Engineering
Age: 31
Background:
My name is Jason Peters. I am a father, husband, and student of life. I was born and raised in the beautiful Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon. With that being said, I have grown to appreciate the outdoors and the endless options for recreational activites.
I have always been fascinated with technology and love to tinker in my garage. My grandfather instilled in me a special thought process. If he didn’t know how to do something, then he taught himself. His name was Jack, and he was a Jack of all trades. I aspire to do the same.
One of my projects consisted of soldering photovoltaic cells together to make a solar panel array. My only reference at the time was YOUTUBE videos. I had a desire to learn more, so I decided to goto school. I was a highschool dropout, and went back to school to get my GED. I have worked my way towards the end of an Engineering degree.
While attending classes at Rogue Community College I learned that I could be creative in an engineering environment. I am excited to be on a senior project team with a group of individuals who are as excited and passionate as I am. I hope to contribute my skills of CAD/CAM software, along with project planning, website maintenance, and dedication to the team. I pride myself upon doing my own vehicle maintenance, and hope to learn more about the inner workings of engines, chassis design, fabrication, and suspension geometries. Additionally, it is exciting to culminate the years of engineering training into a project to test our skills.
Responsibilities:
Research and Development
Website Design/Maintenance
Project Management
Modeling
Fabrication
Wray, James
Major: Manufacturing Engineering
Age:32
Background:
My name is James Wray and I’m 32 years old. I’m a student in the Manufacturing Engineering Program at OIT, and an Intern at Jeld-Wen. I moved to Klamath Falls with my girlfriend in September of 2016 to finish my degree. Before moving I lived mostly in Eugene, OR., bounced around in college some undecided on how to finish, and spent over a decade professionally maintaining, and repairing vehicles, and fabricating vehicle components.
I love most all motorsports, I try to spend as much time as possible outdoors, and I love bacon. I’m excited to be a part of this project because being on a race team, and building a race car has been a lifelong dream of mine. While on the team I hope to gain experience in solid modeling, and computer aided machining.
Responsibilities:
